HELPDESK
A prototype made for Danish Red Cross.
The Danish Red Cross disaster team are some of the first people on site when disaster strikes. The most impotent and first job they have is to establish base camp and internet connection. This is done under very primitive conditions, and in a rough environment. After our first meeting the conclusion was that improvement on their current material was needed.
The requirements we had to meet was, how do we make a pice of furniture to help The Danish Red Cross in organizing their first assignments. The solution also had to be easily shipped by boat, plain and truck, and be able to withstand rough handling.
Helpdesk is made with a double shell of a mixture of Polyethylene and Polyurethane witch can withstand to be dropped from a great hight, like a truck.
Inside the shell the plastic is mounted on a construction of aluminum, this ensures that the electronics wont break during handling.
The electronics contains of a touchscreen for planning, during meetings, a UPS that helps to keep a steady power source to the hard disk.
